Vegas Golden Knights Win Game 2 vs Wild 3-1, Playoff Series Now Tied
The Vegas Golden Knights earned a HUGE Game 2 win at home tonight over the visiting Minnesota Wild. After a very tough overtime loss in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the VGK came back to win 3-1 in regulation.
After a scoreless first period, the Golden Knights seemed like they were still trying to figure out how to score a goal against the Wild. It should be noted that the VGK have been without their leading goal scorer left winger Max Pacioretty who was injured back in April. Max Pac had 24 goals in the regular season and has been sorely missed by the entire team - and especially by his line mate, right winger Mark Stone.
The Wild opened scoring in Game 2 with a goal by Matt Dumba at 12:07. Just 18 seconds later, the Vegas Golden Knights tied the score with a goal on a beautiful shot by Jonathan Marchessault, assisted by Reilly Smith and William Karlsson.
Still in the 2nd quarter, five minutes after their first goal of the series, the Golden Knights scored what turned out to be the game winner on a shot in front of the net by Alex Tuch. Tuch scored his second goal of the game on another shot from in front of the net on a VGK power play with less than a minute left in the game.
The VGK visit Minnesota for Game 3 on Thursday May 20th at 6:30 pm.
